This region commonly called “la côte d'argent” (silver coast) is full of mystery and it borders the Atlantic Ocean, from the department of Gironde to the one of Landes. The coast is straight and sandy with immense dunes (actually the largest in Europe) bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, one of the surfer's favourite.
Leisure activities and sports are top attractions in this area, the seashore is 106 km large, under the brilliant sun for a perfect tan. Water-sports are the key activity in Aquitaine, Hossegor is the European Capital of surfing, its stunning beaches delight amateur and professional surfers, each year the Billabong contest tour takes place here.
Aquitaine is a region full of traditions, there you can enjoy the feria of Bayonne as well as the 425 km of paths, the Landes department has many miles of roads, three of the four historic paths of the Pilgrimage of St Jacques de Compostela passes through.
